Author Biography
Doug Jernigan, DVM grew up in the Flint Hills of eastern Kansas, graduating from the Council Grove school system.  He attended Kansas State University from 1964-1970 receiving his B.S. and D.V.M. degrees.  He served in the USAF from 1970 to 1972 as the Base Veterinarian at Dover AFB, Delaware.  He arrived in Topeka in July of 1972 and practiced small animal medicine and surgery until December, 2006 when he retired from practice to pursue a career as an author, public speaker and human behavior consultant.

Dr. J is Past-President of Historic Jayhawk Theatre, Inc., the Kansas Historic Theatre Association, the Rotary Club of Topeka, the Kansas Veterinary Medical Association, the Topeka VMA and the Topeka Chapter, Association of the U.S. Army.   He loves speaking about pets, their people and their relationships.  He is currently a member of the Rotary Club of Barrie, Ontario and the Barrie Chamber of Commerce. He is married to Sondra Jernigan, Ph.D. and has 4 adult children and two grandsons.

The Drs. Jernigan are certified human behavior consultants with the DISC system of human behavior analysis through Personality Insights, Inc. of Atlanta, Georgia.  They incorporate animal analogies in their corporate, small business and personal development seminars.  They train humans to master their people frustrations, taking their relationships from friction to function!  Recent seminars have involved areas as diverse as universities, real estate, landscaping, sales and marketing, hotel management, photography, veterinary medicine, fundraising, military recruiting and government agencies.  They currently reside near Barrie, Ontario and have clients across north America.
